Description
Nicole anxiously searched their surroundings for any signs of Janette's presence. Although there was none, Nicole didn't allow even a moment of relief to seep over her, no matter how needed it may be. Even with Skales' claw on her shoulder, she could find no reason for relief.
"I've been telling you, the most important element of this relationship is not to worry about what tomorrow holds," he told her, a compassionate glaze in his eyes. Judging by how he was already hissing on his s's, he would soon morph back into his Serpentine state.
"I find it hard to believe you think that," she rebuked. "C'mon, you have to be a little worried that Garmadon or the other generals will find out, aren't you?"
His gaze fell from her for a fleeting moment. He hated that she was right, and what's more, he was probably more afraid of than she was for what was to come.
"Of coarse I am. In fact, the other night I had a nightmare that the generals found out and made me kill you," a terrified grimace overtook Nicole no matter how hard she fought it off. "It was only a dream." he insisted, sweeping her bangs away from her eyes.
"It may not be for long," replied she meekly, delicately fingering the claw on her face and drawing deeper to his palm. It was a small comfort, but any semblance of him being there for her was enough.
